LIGHT BRINGER PROJECT
October, 2010
We are writing to ask for your support of Light Bringer Project and our work in the community. Over the last year, more than 1,000 underserved public school students participated in our arts and learning programs. In 2008, we brought Room 13, an international network of student-driven creative studios, to America. Since that time, each of our studios is filled to capacity with students who are making art, sharing ideas, making decisions and growing a micro-business around the arts. We are proud to announce the launch of Room 13 at John Muir High School this fall.
The L.A. Futures Academy is a career pathways program that provides a real-world application to college-bound, career-ready initiatives in public schools. Addressing the needs of young people at a critical age, the Academy
is helping to cultivate tomorrow’s talent pool and providing the know-how and mentorship necessary for young people to advance toward creative fields.
Light Bringer Project has been largely known for its public events and 2010 was a year of great success. The Pasadena Chalk Festival drew over one hundred thousand audience members and achieved recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest public art event of its kind. We relocated the Pasadena Doo Dah Parade to East Pasadena to support the small business community and ensure the Parade’s vitality (and non-conformity) for years to come.
We believe our value in the community is significant and we need your help. Please find it within your heart to include us in your giving. Your contribution will directly impact the many lives our efforts touch. Your donation is fully tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Thank you for supporting us!
Yours,
Thomas Coston, President
